Carol Aponte

Carol Holmes Aponte, 80, of Kempner, Texas, went home to be with Jesus on January 13, 2026, surrounded by her family and wrapped in love. She was born on January 30, 1945, in Vancouver, Washington. Carol was an incredible woman who truly lived life to the fullest. Known as the life of the party and a natural social butterfly, she had a gift for bringing people together. Her home was always open-whether for a shared meal, a game night, or a craft at the kitchen table. If you were around Carol, you felt welcomed. She was a devoted Christian, and her love for the Lord poured into every part of her life. Her passion for the church showed through countless acts of service-hosting large "Shoebox Christmas" gatherings to send necessities to those in need, helping organize baby showers for her church family, and always inviting anyone and everyone to attend church with her. She also played an instrumental role in helping expand her beloved church, Crestview Christian Church, where her faith and generosity left a lasting impact. Carol was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and family was at the heart of everything she did. She raised two amazing daughters who have gone on to build wonderful lives, a legacy she cherished deeply. Carol was married to Edward Aponte, with whom she shared her daughters, Shirley Strong and Anita Muniz. She later married Glenn Filder, with whom she built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Professionally, Carol was a successful real estate agent and served as President of the Home Builders Association. Alongside Glenn, she co-founded Holmes Homes, a custom home-building business. Through their work, they didn't just build houses-they touched lives. Together, they were actively involved with Habitat for Humanity and dedicated themselves to serving others through both their business and their church community. Carol was also a military wife for over 20 years, standing faithfully beside her family through seasons of service and sacrifice with strength and grace. In her retired years, Carol and Glenn embraced adventure, traveling all across the United States together. Those travels were filled with laughter, memories, and the same joy and curiosity that defined Carol's life. Her warm personality could fill any room the moment she walked in. She loved a good girls' trip, cherished time spent laughing with friends and was a stickler for keeping her hair and nails done-always polished, always herself. Carol was truly one of a kind and will be missed more than words can express. While our hearts grieve her loss, we find comfort in knowing we will see her again in the Lord's eternal resting place. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Holmes and Dolly Holmes, and two of her four siblings, her sisters Alvina Dormaier and Ilene Lindsly. She is survived by her loving husband, Glenn Filder; her daughters, Shirley Strong and her husband Michael Strong, and Anita Muniz and her husband Travis Muniz; her grandchildren, Natalia Martinez and her husband Miguel Martinez, Cameron Strong and his wife Elizabeth Strong, Maria Saavedra and her husband Ronnie Skidds, Cecilia Cleveland and her husband Cody Cleveland, Jose Saavedra and his wife Ashley Saavadra, Emily Tiffany and her husband Dan Tiffany, and Paul Muniz and his wife Mikaela Muniz; 13 beautiful great-grandchildren; her brother, Marvin Holmes; and countless friends and family from her beloved church and community, whose lives she touched with love and faith. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 30, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Crestview Christian Church, 2608 S FM 116, Copperas Cove, Tx 76522.
