June Elizabeth Long

On September 7, 1921, June Elizabeth Lynn was the first daughter born to Omer and Louise Lynn in Wichita, KS. She passed from this earth on October 29, 2017 in Brady, TX. June was a thin, frail child and was given the nickname of "Puny Junie" which followed her for her entire life. Amazingly, this frail, tiny woman survived to be 96 years old. To help with the war effort, June was employed in an aircraft factory in Los Angeles, CA installing electrical wiring on B17 bombers. While there, she met a group of "Texas boys and girls" from McCulloch County who were also working in the factory. One of those "boys" was W.A. "Tony" Long from Mercury. After a two year courtship, Tony asked June to marry him and they were married in Yuma, AZ on November 20, 1943. Tony enlisted in the Army Air Force and they lived in several locations throughout the US during his years of military service. After Tony's military service ended, they settled in Fort Worth, where they lived for 30 years. June and Tony became parents to their two daughters during this time. June worked in retail for Sears, Cox's Department Store, and finally Montgomery Ward, where June was the department manager for Sporting Goods and Luggage at the 7th Street store. In 1976, June and Tony retired and moved to Brady to live next door to her parents, who had also retired and moved to Brady from Kansas. June was an active member of the First Christian Church of Brady. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as President for Unit 510, District 12 and Region 4, and held several other offices for the Department of Texas. June was an active member of the Heart of Texas Museum Board where she served in many capacities. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. June is survived by her two daughters, Wanda (Don) Fisher of Cleburne and Glynell (Scott) Vawter of Brady. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Kristy (Jeff) Austin, Edo (Sabina) Mujanovic, and Jennifer (Brian) Boilla of Arlington and Brian Vawter and Kevin Vawter of Fort Worth. She is survived by 16 great-grandchildren: Jordan (Stacy) Fisher of Cleburne; Kody McAda and Kelsey McAda of Austin; Corey (Jessica) Ross, Cameron Skanes, Zach Austin, Danielle Austin, Sara Mujanovic, Haris Mujanovic, Aydin Mujanovic, Adem Mujanovic, Safia Mujanovic, Jake Boilla, and Knox Boilla all of Arlington; Evan Vawter and Keely Vawter of Crowley and one great-great granddaughter, Aubrey Fisher of Cleburne. She is survived by one sister, Joyce Martin of Fort Worth, and several nieces and nephews, and numerous other honorary relatives, calling her "grandma" or "aunt". She was preceded in death by her parents Omer and Louise; husband, Tony; granddaughter Kathy (Jeff) McAda of Brady and sister, Ione (Bill) Dennett of Augusta, KS.
